Step 1: The initial step involves of installing WordPress on Mac involves installing MAMP if you haven’t yet. In case, you already have MAMP, it is time to open it and click on “Start Servers.” Now download WordPress.

Step 2: Here, you need to unzip the WordPress zip download. Now drag the folder into your “Sites” folder. You may even move it to any folder that you set up as the “Document Root” once you installed MAMP. The setting info is available right under “Preferences > Web Server.”

Step 3: In this step, you have to click “Open Web Start Page” in MAMP. This will open a MAMP page in your browser.

Step 4: Select “phpMyAdmin” under the “Tools” drop-down seen in the MAMP browser window which pops up.

Step 5: You have to create new database for this WordPress installation in phpMyAdmin. Now click on the tab “Databases” tab and create a new database via typing in a name. Also click on remember it for later. Click “Create”.

Step 6: Visit http://localhost:80/wordpress in your browser. Here, we assume that your MAMP is serving on port 80. So you put WordPress in the WordPress folder. Now select your language and click “Continue.”

Step 7: Since you already know your database details and have already created one, it is time to click “Let’s go!” on the next screen.

Step 8: This step involves entering details of your database and click “Submit”.

Database Name: your database

– User Name: root

– Password: root

– Database Host: local-host

– Table Prefix: WP_wordpress-install-9

– Now click ‘Run the install”.

Step 9: Now enter in the requested information which includes username, site title, email, and password. Since it is a local install and available only on your PC, you don’t have to worry too much about creating a secure password. Now click “Install.”

Step 10: You did it! Now click “Log In”. Once you do this, you will be directed to the WordPress login page. It is located at http://localhost/wordpress/wp-login.php. It is important to bookmark the URL. This will help you log in with ease in the future.
